“Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one”
Yep, sounds just like a staunch conservative - not.
You shouda seen the crap I believed when I was the age at which Lennon wrote these lyrics. I was also convinced that Linda Ronstadt was waiting just for me ... :))
“Yep, sounds just like a staunch conservative - not.”
Actually a lot of conservatives (Reagan included) would be PERFECTLY HAPPY living out their lives in peace. I imagine that day (i.e., when Muzzies leave us alone, for example), but I sure as heck want us to prepare for reality.
I don’t have a problem with JL’s lines though...if we were strong enough, we would have world peace.
