I wish you would not distort the meaning of the verse to which you alluded by misusing it in this context.

You recoil at the application of the following Biblical statement to Palin:

If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31b

I don’t think it is an abuse if it happens in a particular case to be true.

Do you seriously believe that Sarah, as a Christian, has no right to claim the essential truth taught here? True, Paul is teaching in the context of personal salvation, and if you think it is misapplied to go beyond that, I understand where you’re coming from.

But what Paul states here is a general axiom that would be true in any number of contexts that go well beyond personal redemption, as has been demonstrated many times over elsewhere in Scripture. As just one of myriad examples, the temporal authorities attempted to keep Peter in prison. God wanted him out, so he got out. God always gets his way.

That truth doesn’t mean that any given politician can claim with any authority that God wants them and not their competitor to win. That would be true abuse of the passage at hand. Nevertheless, if God wants a particular person to rise to a position of power, there is no force nor power nor conceivable device of man that can stop it from happening. That should give grief to a wicked people and comfort to a righteous people, or at least a repentant people. If God is willing, no weapon of the left can stop us from installing the one right person for the job of getting America back on track. It is up to Him, to be sure, but once the course is set, there is no turning back.
