isn’t this a “state issue” let NY decide (rightfully or wrongfully) what they want to happen in their state

If it affects entitlement to social security death benefits, then it is not merely a state issue. And if the other states are required to accept as legitimate the marriages performed in New York, then that has federal implications there as well.

It's a state action but with national effects that are huge... as you point out.

It's a huge state. It's a huge change. It's a huge deal.

It will be seen, in years to come, as a huge part of the breakdown of our Republic.
