Interesting. I didn’t know about the America’s Most Wanted info. The one thing I’m really surprised about is that Whitey and Greig apparently relocated there right away and stayed there for the entire 16 years. I figured Whitey would move around. There are a lot of theories out there now about how Whitey and Greig sustained themselves over this time. It will be interesting to find out how everything went down in the coming days, etc...

Bulger evidently was never anyone’s fool. Now the big question, in addition to the “Dirty Secrets and Laundry” he knows about the FBI and Boston PD. Does Bulger know exactly what happened to the Gardner Museum pictures stolen in 1990? Estimated worth today somewhere around $500 Million.
In 1990 Bulger was at the height of his powers and certainly no job of that magnitude could have been pulled off without his knowledge. Most of those involved are dead I think so does Bulger have the paintings? Something nice to trade with perhaps???????????/

America’s Most Wanted had repeated tips of sightings of Whitey in Santa Monica over the last ten years and wonder of wonders, the FBI couldn’t or wouldn’t arrest him.

Wonder of wonders!! The couple moved into the apartment in 1996, fifteen years ago, and stayed. In my opinion, their whereabouts had to be well-known. Also, Greig's habits had to be well-known. Why was info about her broadcast only this past month?

Something stinks.

I recall, in something I read or saw during the past week, it was said that Whitey had artwork in the apartment, “knock-offs” of Van Gogh and Rembrandt that he favored. I think everything he did was a clue so he could have a laugh at law enforcement and his victims.

My guess is that Bulger had nothing to do initially with the Gardner Museum heist. But he certainly would have wanted to know all the answers in it's aftermath.
Those two guys who pulled the heist are most certainly dead and it would not be a stretch not to think Bulger would not have found them long before the police ever could.
That kind of artwork could not be sold or fenced unless it was to a very small network of collectors who knew they could never show them to anyone.
So the artwork was either destroyed or it's in a very safe place know only to maybe Bulger who has something to trade and I guess can claim the $5 million reward to fund his defense.
All in all the story of Bulger and this get better every day.

Who died that they don’t have to protect anymore—Ted Kennedy died two years ago, just saying.

Connolly and the other crooked FBI worked side-by-side in the FBI office. The honest FBI guys have had to know that something was going on. Over the years, there must have been lots of members of the public who gave them information about Whitey and his partners without it going anywhere. Maybe this went all the way to Washington. Wouldn’t they need a cover in the Washington office to keep all of the corruption in the Boston office from being found out? I suspect that when there is corruption in law enforcement there are probably political people behind the scenes who are getting their share of the take. Whitey made lots of money selling drugs and other crimes, look at all the money he had stashed away. There must have been lots of money to share with any crooked politicians who wanted a peace of the action.
