How come you never hear something like this said, “You moderates better not elect someone who’s going to cause the base to they either unenthusiastically vote for him or not vote at all.”? How come the pressure is always on us to conform to the moderates and “undecideds”?

Well I’m saying it now. If Mitt gets the nomination he will not be president. Osama Obama will be. A huge bloc will either not vote or will not help him win. the problem is the party leadership likes being the minority.

The Third Party threat is real. The nomination of Romney would enact the threat.

It’s possible for a Third Party candidate to win over one third of the vote, especially if the opponents were two candidates so similar on so many big issues. The real problem would be winning 270 votes in the Electoral College, which would throw the entire election to the House.
