Washington (CNN) - In an interview after his presidential announcement Tuesday, former Utah governor and ambassador to China Jon Huntsman tried to downplay a letter he wrote to President Barack Obama in August 2009 calling him a "remarkable leader."

Huntsman told Fox News that he was only alluding to the fact that the president would appoint a Republican to "a position as important and sensitive as the U.S. ambassadorship to China."

That’s about right. Huntsman is going to try and “excite” the base by saying, “Well, at least I ain’t Obama!” Right now America does not need a “not Obama” candidate! That’s what got us Obama (”I’m not Bush” - only he is Bush (in foreign policy) and Bush (in spending $$))!

We need an ANTI-Obama! We need a normal, everyday, citizen-leader who understands what built this country into the nation that more people want to migrate to (legally and illegally) than any other in the HISTORY of the world! We need someone who understands that FREEDOM to fail is what made us great! NOT government intervention because someone is too big to fail! NOT government intervention to ensure we don’t kill our own selves by not wearing a seat belt! NOT government intervention to ensure we have a house and food and healthcare and water and electricity! These are things that WE (the people) must work for and provide for on our own, through our own efforts! For those who cannot provide for themselves you have family and friends and churches and charity - NOT GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION!

No McRomney, No McTPaw, No McHuntsman, No McNewt! NO! NO! NO!!!!!

Here’s a segment from Katrina Trinko’s op-ed at the National Review, “Which GOP Candidate Has the Best Job-Growth Record?“:

[...]

While all the GOP contenders are quick to hit the “jobs, jobs, jobs” mantra, the former governors running for president have very different records on job creation. According to a National Review Online analysis of seasonally adjusted employment data (looking at the total number of those employed) from the Bureau of Labor website, Gary Johnson has the best record of the official candidates, with a job-growth rate of 11.6 percent during his tenure.

But Johnson, who governed from 1995 to 2003, doesn’t overlap much with the other governors — Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, and Jon Huntsman — who are running. Among the crowd who governed primarily during the 2000s, Huntsman has the best record. During his 2005 to 2009 tenure as governor of Utah, the number of jobs grew by 5.9 percent.

Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty have much weaker records. …

[...]

During Huntsman’s tenure, January 2005 to August 2009, Utah had the best overall job-growth rate of any state in the nation. In that same time frame, Perry’s job-growth rate was 4.9 percent. Pawlenty’s job-growth rate was negative: The number of jobs in Minnesota decreased by 1.8 percent.

I have only heard Huntsman speak three times since learning he wanted to be a candidate, and he has stepped in it every single time. Get out while ya still can John.

When you consider that he worked for Obama, it should raise a red flag to everyone. It may be unwarranted but I don’t trust anyone that worked for this administration.

Huntsman did not, from the sound of this story, compliment Obama to SOMEONE ELSE. He complimented him directly.

He called him a remarkable leader. Why? Because good leadership is when you appoint Huntsman?

That doesent sound like good diplomacy. Its sounds like a shameless suckup. Silver spoon etiquette.

Yet another in the time honored tradition of the GOP allowing/enabling the media to choose our candidates for us.

May God help us to bring forward our own darn candidate, by encouraging people to research them for themselves, since it is clear that the media is interested only in serving itself.

I know many of you will consider this a GOOD thing ... but not me.

Huntsman is a Mormon APOSTATE. He has abandoned his covenants and promises and the faith of his fathers for political gain. the man CANNOT be trusted ... EVER.

Anyone who abandons their covenants and promises for political gain will desert the nation in its time of need, as well.

It wont be long before he abandons the constitution and the American people for his own power.

since it is clear that the media is interested only in serving itself.

The purpose of the media, print and video is simply to elect democrats into every seat, local, county, state and national.

They cannot do this by talking up their candidate, who has nothing, only besmirching, or attempting to, the opposition.

Believe nothing you read regards politics, and very little of everything else, presented by the DBM.

Wow. So funny no one cares he created more jobs than any other governor, or is way more pro life than Romney.

Or that Palin remains unelectable. As does Bachman, and Axelrod will dismantle Perry in every swing state....

“Or that Palin remains unelectable. As does Bachman,”

They poll better than Huntsman: http://www.nationalpolls.com/candidates/jon-huntsman.html

The glaring thing about his poll results on that list is that in the Deseret News poll for his own state — Utah — in April 2009 he polled at 32%. Two years later, in 2011, his support dropped to less than half of that — 14%. In all the other polls, he is anywhere from 1 - 3%.

All the other Republican candidates can pretty much ignore him. If he takes votes away from anyone, it will probably be Obama.

The progressives love him! http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/05/19/167282/huntsman-progressive-past/

Really, LOL! You’re starting to be amusing.

You still need progressives to win. Utah is not a reflection of the country by a long shot.

Of course they are polling better. Huntsman literally only got in yesterday.
