Schumpeter talked about the creative destruction of capitalism. As businesses mature, their products become commodity and they do things like automation.
A healthy free market economy though creates a fertile seedbed for small business to thrive with innovation and new products and services, or improvements on old commodity goods. That’s where the jobs to replace the automated ones occur.
Forgot to add that the U.S. and leaders like Obama (and I use that term loosely) are killing the small business job engine thru their incessant piling on of regulation and taxes.
