Somehow I missed the info “Dull” posted about the US forces training the PA; thanks for posting it.
Yesterday, I endured a presentation by Colette Avital set up by J-Street. I learned first-hand how badly delusional the J-Street, leftist foundational viewpoint is. She kept repeating that she believed there was no existential danger to Israel , that this is a time of peace, without terrorism so it’s a good time to negotiate [all her words, not mine]. She also stated that she considers the PLO leadership her friends and that she trusts them.
What disheartened me is how many of the audience (70+) shared those same views—including the leader of the Jewish Education Dept of the local Jewish Community Center and a former editor of the local Jewish paper. There were only about 5 or 6 of us who challenged her publicly or privately. Soros is definitely getting a huge return for his “investment” in J-Street.
J-Street aren’t going to replace AIPAC, which was what they were created to do. Instead they’ve just been relegated to being a Israeli focused MoveOn.
Obama gave them a seat at the table, but Soros already has his ear, so it’s a dog and pony show.
As for the PLO, our CIA used Arafat’s right hand man, who planned the Black September attacks, as an contact. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Hassan_Salameh
There are also suspected CIA ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and then Fatah formation, including a theory Nazi pary members in Egypt were involved. http://www.hirhome.com/israel/cia-fatah.htm
Oh, and much later, the Oslo Accords required Israel to both arm and train the Palestinian Authority police. So the US and Israel essentially built up the enemy.
