Washington (CNN) A top adviser to Sarah Palin fired back at Ed Rollins, the longtime Republican operative tapped to run Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's presidential campaign, after Rollins dismissed Palin as "not serious" in a radio interview this week.
Rollins also told Politico on Tuesday that Bachmann will "be so much more substantive" than Palin, and said he is "not afraid" of the former Alaska governor.
Michael Glassner, the chief of staff for Palin's political action committee, issued a rare public statement Wednesday rebuking Rollins as a Washington relic.
"Beltway political strategist Ed Rollins has a long, long track record of taking high profile jobs and promptly sticking his foot in his mouth," Glassner in the statement, provided to Politico and obtained by CNN.
"To no one's surprise he has done it again, while also fueling a contrived narrative about the presidential race by the mainstream media," Glassner said. "One would expect that his woodshed moment is coming and that a retraction will be issued soon."

Don't ever exaggerate, do you? Thoudands?
Like Momma used to say, if you can't say something good about someone, don't say anything.
We must win this one.
Yes indeed elpadre (btw do you claim a cleric’s status here?)
And this is the crucible at the political heart of this republic.
Here and elsewhere on the interwewbs we citizens are trying to winnow the wheat from the chaff. We are weary of Pharisses putting forth candidates selected by knaves, scoundrels, thieves, whores, and the ungodly. Better the wiley double speakers, and pretenders be uncovered now before they steal our labor, our money, and our hopes. It is required of us as free citizens.
If you have no stomach for the fight now, of what use will you be next fall?
I agree. Two women is fantasy land — and Michele Bachmann knows it too.
“Don’t ever exaggerate, do you? Thoudands”
Ok, maybe hundreds, collectively expressed thousands of times, I estimate 1489 times.
Only one will be on the ticket in the general election. We are choosing that person now.
Sarah Palin hasn’t gone after Michele Bachman.
Sarah Palin’s adviser told Michele Bachman’s manager he “misspoke.”
