As she prepares to enter the race in Iowa later this month, Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann has signed on high-profile political strategist Ed Rollins to run her presidential campaign, according to two sources close to Bachmann.
Rollins, who was Mike Huckabee's national campaign director in the 2008 campaign, is an experienced political operative with a well-earned reputation for his tough tactics and willingness to play hardball.

It is a strange choice. But I have to trust that Bachmann has a reason.
Obviously Bachmann is serious about winning in 2012 and Rollins is a veteran campaign guy. I think we’ve seen for some time now she’s not going the way of Palin with a totally anti-establishment campaign (if Palin is really campaigning). Time will tell how this plays out but I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt rather than some here and their knee jerk reactions.
Here's the right one, with wife Shari Scharfer.
Big News From Camp Bachmann

Michele Bachmann is bring Ed Rollins on board to run her Presidential campaign.
This is big and significant news.
Rollins was Ronald Reagans campaign manager in 1984, a fact downplayed by a lot of people who think Reagans landslide in 1984 had nothing to do with Rollins.
Whether you are impressed by that or not, pay attention to the next one: Rollins took Mike Huckabees 2008 upstart campaign into overdrive and gave Romney, McCain, and the rest a run for their money.
Im already hearing from people on the ground in Iowa that Bachmann has the potentially to make huge waves there. Given what Huck did in 2008 and Rollins knowledge of the lay of the land, it could turn Michele Bachmann into a serious contender for evangelicals and transition her from just being seen as a tea party candidate.
Oh, and full disclosure from me: Ed Rollins and I have frequently sat next to each other on CNN and I like him tremendously, though among my conservative friends there are frequently days when I think I might be the only one who does. Heh.
Nice to know he talks to the cleaning crew.
Well, he defeated Flim-flam Florio. Didn't need to run at the mouth about it, however.
You're kidding, right?
Jesus, stop pissing into the damn hurricane. Romney stalking horse, clear as feckin day. Ed Rollins - ROFLMAO!!!!!
Maybe supporting it doesn't make you a true libertarian, but it sure as hell doesn't make you a RINO or CINO.
I'll ask again, what is Joan of Arc Palin's view on the Patriot Act?
So far I haven’t seen any “knee jerk” reactions on this thread till you showed up. There’s bit of a show of disappointment in her choice of Rollins, a self-confessed bagman (read his autobiography) who cut his political teeth with the 60’s democrats including the wannabee dictator Bobby Kennedy of the most corrupt clan in America.
I believe in confession, contrition, and redemption. Rollins has only shown swaggering confession followed by “So what!”.
I didn’t notice any attacks on Bachman’s person or character nor on her supporters. Yet your supposed defense of her opens with a “oh yeah, well so’s your old man” rather adding new knowledge or otherwise buttressing your opinion.
Take this for what’s worth.
Comment not surprising coming from a Palin fan. Obviously her fans are afraid of Bachmann. Rush says the Left tells us who they’re afraid of, well so do Palin fans.
Ugh. One more strike against Michele. Rollins is a snake. Look at what he did for Huckabee.
She will go nowhere. Should her ethanol pandering actually get here some visibility in Iowa, her bloom will fall quickly when she actually has to defend some of her outrageous statements or explain why her party has continued to keep her on the back bench.
If he wins Michele Bachmann Iowa I doubt she’ll care about any of that. And sorry, but I disagree I think there are knee jerk reactions. If Bachmann turns into middle of the road mushy moderate I’ll be disappointed too, but I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Rollins himself even said he doesn’t know in what capacity he’ll be working with her.
Probably like most candidates he didn’t keep his campaign manager in check and just let them handle everything, finding out too late that was a big mistake.
Nah - not afraid of a total lightweight like Bachmann. List out her accomplishments from nearly 3 years as an undistinguished congresscritter then we’re talkin sport.
BTW I was really pleased at the way Bachmann came out and fully supported Palin when she was being accused of mass murder over Giffords. Nah couldn’t do that as she was too busy weeping phoney tears over her Dem Congress pal. What a feckin fake.
Take RINO Rollins and shove em up her arse.
Thanks for the reminders. I knew there were other reasons, I just couldn’t recall them at that moment.
Besides that I was getting Blackberry thumb cramp.
;>)
I have "trigger thumb" and my daughter swears its from the Berry...
Huck had a hell of a network in Iowa. That’s what Bachmann is tapping into.
