I was schooled in depth about a year ago by a fellow Freeper who admonished me that my inability to understand liberal Judaism was based on my ignorance of the dominance of Russian Jewish culture in the US. These immigrants were brought up on Stalin and cannot see beyond the red iron curtain. Some curses are intergenerational.
Actually, at least in the Northeast, many Jewish Democrats still cherish and believe in Communism - and are actively working within the Democrat party to advance their ideology. I had a discussison with just one such individual recently - who proudly boasts of family ties and activism dating back to before WWII. They are active and influential in the mASS. state Democrat party.

They were Red long before Stalin. Before WWI, when Trotsky decided he needed revolutionaries for Russia, he came to New York's Lower East Side to recruit them, working at Communist newspaper Novy Mir (New World).
