Im reminded of the movie The Bridge over the River Kwai. In the movie a British Colonel being held prisoner in Thailand by the Japanese leads his fellow POWs in the construction of a bridge for the enemy. Even though he knows that this is helping the Japanese war effort, his fondness for his accomplishment almost causes him to sabotage a commando raid to destroy the bridge.
RINOs and CINOs (conservatives in name only) like Krauthammer will let you kick the bridge, paint the bridge, and even spray graffiti on the bridge, but dont ever come calling with the intention of placing plastic explosives around the main supports; hell calmly explain that you just dont understand bridge policy.

I’m just staying real. I’m very optimistic that God will prevail - just as he laid it out. It’s very evident that it is unfolding just as He said it would. I welcome God’s will over man’s. There’s no praying or voting it away - it will happen. And it’s nothing to worry about either - we all die either way and hopefully go to the Father. If I said that people (perhaps even myself) will certainly die in the future from earthquakes, tornados, and hurricanes, would you say that I have an attitude and need to cleansed, or that I’m grounded in reality? What makes you think that this giant modern global world will suddenly reverse course? Because we would wish it to? Not going to happen. I’ll see you on the other side of eternal life! Now what could be more optimistic than that?!
Wow. Great analogy. The Colonel Jellybean March (aka Colonel Bogey March) was my wedding march.
The pride in high-tier complex knowledge the essay Ascribes to Doctor Krauthammer ...
The Tower of Babel was also a place where the various factions and trades took immense pride in their works and knowledge base too. They put skilled accomplishment of task ahead of humanity, and made life cheap. Our dear G-d made that kind of super-pride in separation of knowledge and skills into a language reality to show, over many many generations how evil it is. Or, that is: to give humanity the opportunity to fix that mistake itself.
Men haven’t quite fixed it, but we are close. English has unified the world, language-wise. Not a very holy language, and one that is quite profane and promiscuous, but it means people CAN and ARE talking and communicating to all other people anywhere in the world accurately and readily. The Internet and mass-communications have provided instantaneity and common-information in the first and a rich common basic emotion base in the second that have enhanced greatly the awesome power of this era of language re-unification.
The great difficulties of our times are borne in the uprooting of old cultural moorings that have accompanied this new era. This are the social equivalents of richter level 9 earthquakes with massive tsunamis, or great floods brought on by suddenly melting snows, and also bring on destructive backflows that can act like force 5 tornadoes when folks in great power attempt to latch on to what can not be held any longer.
Why is that all to English? Maybe it is because of all cultures the English, especially the ideal-based Englishmen that became and created America the Nation, respected EACH human life dearly. So too did the Hebrews who became Israel millennia ago, and now they are also re-constituted in that Holy Land in this era.
Finally we—America—became a nation worthy enough to shepherd in the later eras of humanity. But ... it’s a big but ... can we sustain, can we carry through on our task? We are always great starters of things, but we lag in the follow through.
We get distracted. Is Colonel Jellybean’s March playing, or is it a grand triumphal Sousa march?
