You’re absolutely right — definitely not wanting to support store/chain that either makes up nonsense to cover themselves, or won’t sell what is legal at all. We definitely won’t be back to Dick’s for anything — which is a shame because it’s the closest sporting goods store. The nearest Academy is in the hood, and I hate driving into Nashville to hit Bass. But it looks like that’s what I’ll be doing.

For guns at least, look for a little mom & pop in your town or nearby. Shorter drive, better service, more knowledgeable staff, and a good type of business to help stay in business.

And if you really must go to a chain sporting goods store, try Sportsman’s Warehouse, if you have any in your area. I’ve found them to be superior to Bass Pro, and especially to Dick’s. Don’t have a whole lot of experience with Cabela’s, but for what little I do have, Sportsman’s beats em.
