The only reason the Federal Government has a say in any of this is because it is paying for some peoples healthcare.
The Federal Government should not be paying for anyone (other than the military’s) healthcare.
The reason healthcare is so expensive today is because of third party payers. There is a disconnect between the provider and the consumer.
Anything thought of as “free” gets used more than something you have to pay for. The provider has an incentive to charge more than a consumer would (or could pay) and the consumer does not care since they are not paying (directly).
Want to solve the health care problem, end all third party payers, only the consumer can pay.
Want to bring down the cost of college, end student loans, end government handouts, the consumer will have to pay their own way.
Any time you have a disconnect between the provider of service and the consumer of that service there an imbalance will occur.
Governments are seen to have unlimited amount of money and there is little incentive for the provider to keep cost low.
So we end up with a Rube Goldberg approach to medical care.
I will predict this entire house of cards will eventually collapse upon itself.
The Federal Government should not be paying for anyone (other than the militarys) healthcare.
