What are you talking about? The Corps is the largest special forces organization on earth.Sure the Army has special forces but they are the isolated exceptions not the norm.
The training, esprit de corps and motivations are totally different and the nonhacker drop-out rate in USMC boot camp is many times that of the Army.
Sure Marines win battles and then leave the field to the Army to administrate while they go on to win the next battle.
And like any other lead butt pencil pushing administrator they will claim to have won the war.
Who is the better warrior, the average soldier or the average marine!
Study military history much?
BTW,I was a Navy airman.

i agree it is more likely in the Army. but, you initially said “certain”, which isn’t right or fair.
Insult Dempsey all you want. but to insult unknown officers, isn’t right.
Wesley Clark, and proven slugs, insult all you want,
and i’m happy to agree with you.
(btw, i’m a Vet, but not army or marine.)

Murtha was a Marine.
Colonel Allen West, was Army.

there are MANY brave men in both.

and ESPECIALLY this is inappropriate for TODAY!

when we should be honoring the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

...there are TOO many of them, from both the Army and the Marines.

I have no doubt that the US Army has many, many brave soldiers, and that the Marines have scoundrels.

But I'm talking about the quality of leadership at the senior levels; and if the question is confined to that issue alone, I doubt that anyone could argue that the Army for all its resources produces better generals than the Marine Corps.
Are all Army generals bad, and all Marine generals outstanding? Of course not.

But why do Army generals seem to be constantly playing politics, cozening up to political leaders, and agreeing to policies they know are bad for the armed forces?
Are Army generals trained to do this?
Do they learn it by osmosis as they climb the chain of command?
You tell me.

He’s so bright he appears dumb. His only role in his usurped administration is to make speeches. He’s so lazy he doesn’t even bother to read them through to make sure of puctuation and pronunciation. Or maybe that’s just one more indicator of how much the man despises the proletariat.

Regardless of this general’s bona fides or no bond fides, he was picked by baraq. Don’t trust him.

You've bought into the marine propaganda machine's revised history.

Largest land battle fought by the American armed forces: Battle of the Bulge (US Army, 19,00 KIA,, inflicting >60,000 enemy KIA)

Largest Amphibious assault: Normandy (5000 US KIA on 1st day)

Longest combat assault into enemy territory: US Army -Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF-1 400 kilometers 3rd Infantry)

As to the entire USMC being "special forces"; if that's so, why does USMC now have a "special operations force" of their own? (Part of USSOC command)

Battle of Fallujha: 3 Battalions of marines, 2 battalions Army. (After the battle, the marines admitted that they had underestimated the fighting abilities of the Army.)

Times have changed my FRiend. The "old" Army might have had its problems (draftees being the most problematic) but that was then and this is now. I could go on, but you probably get the point. Marines are just about as good as Army soldiers. Since I have been through both US Army training and USMC training, I think I may be pretty well qualified to have an opinion.

It make me want to vomit thinking about how this Marxist is monkeying with the U.S. Military. He is in an altogether different, diametrically opposed universe than this fine institution.

BTW, Obama is at Arlington this time, stumbling through his reading of the TelePrompter. And I do mean stumbling. He tripped up on "Staff Sergaent." He's unsure how to pronounce the names of soldiers whose stories he is highlighting.

How freakin' pathetic is that. He has no class so he's incapable of being embarrassed.

It would be best for everyone if that fake president skipped
going to Arlington. The soldiers there are probably turning
in their graves at the sight and sound of that moron!

You have a point—the military has changed quite a bit since my time in it (35 years ago).
But that USMC “mystique” was well and hard earned and will be just as hard for the other branches of the military to outshine.
My State's college is the original USC (University of South Carolina) but the term “USC” will always be known to America as Southern Cal until OUR University can outshine and outshine over time the long superior Trojan athletic program.
Ask anyone if anyone other than the Marines could have done Iwo Jima and you will understand.
Perception is reality some say.

How true. It’s almost a certainty that any Democrat President would chose a “go along to get along” type for that post no matter who our country and military needs.

He's certain to get that with an Army officer

That's just a dumb comment.

OH, yah, that raibow/green flag... this “flag” which accomplishes nothing but is more a pretty weathervane much like their sexual orientation of the day, instead of self-determining as the stars and stripes.

It’s like to them it all is as if the windmills propelled the Earth temperatures when it is the Earth Temperatures which propell it. THey got it all wrong. It’s our new Army and change... we change, don’t you know, just like the song: “we are the world, we are the losers, we are the corrupt Dempseys etc...”
