There’s an anti-intellectual flavor to your dismissal of the liberal arts, saying the only thing an M.A. in English can do is bag groceries. You don’t consider yourself an intellectual?

Mamet: I don’t know. If you look at Paul Johnson’s or Thomas Sowell’s description of the term, it would be a guy who’s not aware that he doesn’t know anything.

Chomsky should take language lessons from Mamet. At least then his crap would be funny.

Mamet has always been a wordsmith, although his vulgarity detracted from his characters. GGGR would have been equally effective if he’d checked the vulgarity at the door.

From the interview here’s another money quote:

“Shelby Steele and I were on a panel, and some white woman asked, “What can we do for the African-American community?” There was a long pause, and he said, in the saddest voice I’ve ever heard, “Leave us alone.” It’s appalling what the government has done to the great African-American community in the last 50 years.”

The more condescending and snarky the intellectuals attitude, the closer to null his accumulation of knowledge.

I have often referred to PHDs as narrow minded egotistical idiots. Do you think this might be why my college GPA suffered?
