Personally

I've NEVER met the socialist or liberal who didn't think they were smarter and better than everyone around them. Except of course for the theoretical ‘worker’ - people who they don't know except thought corrupt union bosses or silly social workers.

When you're talking to people on FreeRepublic - you're talking to a fair number of real workers - the folks that are hard to fool with Marxist/liberal elite crap.

What I'm trying to say is that, being dumb and/or stupid, should not be characterized as "elite", no matter how much liberals believe that they're smart or special. And, I used to be a liberal.

Elite: A group or class of persons enjoying superior intellectual or social or economic status.

From that definition, I fail to see how any liberal has any real superior intellectual standing on any issue. Economic status should not be associated with being a liberal, because, there are people who are well-off, no matter what the ideology.

Basically, to me, being ideologically liberal or socialist, would put a person in the most clueless class, and not in the superior intellect group.
