I read an article about 15 years ago that said that US general-aviation manufacturing had been dried up by liability lawyers.

Now I think I read that production had resumed here and there -- but that a lot of U.S. mfrs had offshored their a/c production, again for liability reasons. Is this so? I think you would know better, so I'm asking.

Those damned airplane-manufacturing tortfeasors! </s>

Yes a lot of newer stuff has gone off shore, Diamond is made in Canada, and a lot of the kits are done in the Czech Republic, Poland etc. Their are your survivors, but they prices are so brutal, no one can go out and buy a new Piper 4 seater like they did eons ago unless your a brain surgeon.
