And just so you know that he does indeed know the difference...
Gov. Rick Perry's 'Future of the State' Address November 17, 2004
Snip...It is a testament to the enduring virtue of our democratic experiment that more than 225 years since the birth of our republic we still decide our destiny as a nation without tanks in the street, or without fear or intimidation, but instead in the sanctity of a voting booth where the opinion of a poor tenant farmer carries as much weight as that of a well-heeled stock broker.

Yet at the same time he's too ignorant to know that this nation is an experiment in self governance.
Or are you of the belief that "democratic experiment" and "experiment in self governance" are the same in word and intent as well?

I think that the word “democratic” gets used regularly with the definition of: “voting on things.”

Which we do. Lots of things. It’s a “democratic” process. Even for electors and representatives, folks vote, the votes are tallied, and the one with the most votes goes forward and the one without goes back to the dustbin.

I suspect that Rick Perry is the 3rd coming of GWBush. Bush had his weaknesses, but I vastly prefer him to Obama.

My favorite candidate at this point is Palin, second might be Cain once I learn more about him, and third, when compared to all the others is someone like Perry, who is conservative on my touchstone issue, life, and who is conservative or reborn conservative on all the other issues I care about.
