It was a priceless moment...just another in the line of dumb and dumber, and totally disrespectful.
The man simply has no idea about nationality, national pride, patriotism, tradition, or protocol. Because he has no nationality, he thinks patriotism and national anthems are bellicose and fake. He was raised with loyalty to nothing but himself. Remember he’s the citizen of the world. The communist who believes only in the collective citizenery of which HE shoul be king, because he’s the briliant omnipotent genius and smarter than everybody else.
This whole thing, once again, was a disgusting embarrassment to Americans. Especially in light of the fact that this is the Queen, who put on her boots and drove an ambulance in WWII, always gracious and respectful of the step-child country that came to her country’s rescue and fought off her cousins from the north who came to confiscate and murder her citizenery.
I don’t believe in monarchism or totalitarianism, and disagree with many things about Europe’s governance. But THIS woman of strength and dignity, and great good humor, who could crack jokes with President Bush and treated him with great respect, has earned the dignity accorded her.
I wonder what William F. Buckley would have made of this? Thank God he went to his reward and never had to see this.
My parents, too -- decent people, fought the Big Show (he in Hap Arnold's Eighth Air Force, she in the British nursing cadre of a big London hospital), raised four kids to be honest, decent, and straight. She a British royalist, bled British royal blue to the last day of her life. They'd have been beyond humiliated by this spectacle.
The Queen also donned her coveralls during WWII and worked on military vehicles as a mechanic. I can’t imagine what she must be thinking about this pair.
That was a great post.
