He probably thinks that 2008 is the Queen’s Regnal Gregorian Lunar Leap Year, or such.
Interestingly, Wikipedia lists the current year as 2003-2004 according to the Ethiopian Calender.
I don’t doubt that some WH flak will announce that it’s 2008 in some calendar system that is dear to the Leader’s childhood.
