Have you ever wondered how all those same sized black dots got on that NASA image?

Data transmission errors, according to NASA.

It was from 1976. Today, a typical office scanner contains far more advanced data processing. It was not until a couple of decades later that NASA got around to photographing the mesa formation with better gear, proving what non-flakes had known all along: just an ordinary rock formation.
