Rep. Duncan Hunter Criticizes Navy's Decision To Name Ship For Cesar Chavez Tony Perry Los Angeles Times May 17, 2011 U .S. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Alpine) disagrees with the Navy's decision to name a cargo ship under construction in San Diego for California farm labor leader Cesar Chavez.

The decision, announced Tuesday, "appear[s] to be more about making a political statement than upholding the Navy's history and tradition," Hunter said in press release.

Hunter, who served as a Marine in Iraq and Afghanistan, said that if the Navy wanted to recognize "the Hispanic contribution to our nation, many other names come to mind."

Hunter mentioned Marine Sgt. Rafael Peralta, killed in combat in Iraq and nominated for the Medal of Honor.

"Peralta is one of many Hispanic war heroes -- some of whom are worthy of the same recognition," Hunter said.

Cesar Chavez was a commie who lived high on the hog in a compund protected by armed guards. His so called union was such a success that it only exisits as a lobbying group ran by crooks and the real farm workers dropped out a long time ago.
Next thing is Obama will be naming a ship the uss jim bob carter

"Cesar Chavez was a commie who lived high on the hog in a compund protected by armed guards."

All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others, I guess. Rush was making this point today about the IMF guy who tried to rape the maid. Socialist elites live in such luxury, while they tell the rest of us we have to sacrifice for the "greater good".

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

I thought we had a navy to kill commies, not honor them.

Politics at its worst. Could the Obama play for the Latino vote be any more glaring? They had to look high and low for the “wise Latina” for the court, made the big Latin America swing, sued Arizona, and now just weeks after launching his political reelection bid he starts a new debate on immigration to gin up Latino anger and hopefully cause a politically calculated reaction from the Tea Party, and now this. All identity politics.

USS Cesar Chavez is unacceptable and an intolerable political act.

Manuel Lisa is a very appropriate choice for the Lewis & Clark Class. Has the Navy ever considered it?

There are many far more qualified choices, especially Peralta.

Others to consider:
Antonio Maria de la Guerra
José Antonio Aguirre
