1) was the switcheroo made in Aug. ‘61 to please Grandma Dunham so her supposed grandson, born who knows where, would be a US citizen?

2) if it was done in Aug. ‘61, then the new and improved one would have been on file all those years and that info would have automatically been transferred onto a true short form without the need for all the delay, delay, delay, and finally a very sloppy fake one made.

I still want proof positive from an original newspaper that his announcement was published rather than rely on an iffy microfilm pic. I hear the original paper has been found but nothing further.

I doubt the Dunhams had anything to do with it, neither SAD nor zero had to be in Hawaii, they didn't even have to be anywhere together. It's possible this was done to give an unidentified child an identity. Frank Marshall Davis was at that time active in an organisation FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE FOREIGN BORN. He 'worked' to prevent commununists being deported. Check Wiki. Keeping his eye on births and deaths would have been right up his ally...

I doubt they felt secure in releasing it WITH THE NUMBER that belonged to another birth. Thus, the first you saw was the COLB with the black rectangle. And just perhaps the 'replacement' data from the August 8th lodgement wasn't quite 'suitable' - they weren't looking that far ahead. Maybe it showed 'born in Kenya'

The copies at the Library of Congress were apparently quite pristine and original. I've seen nothing that says anyone found the original newspapers... Anyway, it's just my pet theory. One step follows another and the result is a birth announcement. That was the objective.

Of course, that puts paid to any idea that she was his mother...which most people just cannot come to grips with. Her motherhood in ‘Dreams’ is the foundation of the myth.
