Newt is a very, very bright guy who is all about ego and winning. The fact that he had some brilliant ideas and strategies that assisted the conservative cause in 1994 doesn't mean that he has, at heart, any interests other than his own.
The man is extremely intelligent, well read and an original thinker; in the proper cabinet or advisory spot he could still be invaluable to the cause of liberty, however, to quote Charlie Sheen “It's WINNING DOH!”, and Newt would rather win (prove to the world how smart Newt is) if it meant waking up next to Ms Pelosi, than lose.

Good points on Newt. I heard that a former congressional aid said Newt had A.D.D. That he was off to the next thought or project before the first was finished. He would go off with out venting his ideas and say stupid stuff... like the laptops for kids and calling reporters at 5:00 in the morning and complaining he was in the the back of AIR FORCE ONE.
