“Oil, coal, natural gas, shale oil, open carry”

Sounds close to Nirvana to me. LOL

I should have said union and/or with Dem governments either local or statewide.I'm sure the districts in Louisiana with high unemployment and welfare roles are or were historically Democrat areas, right?

I would bet that Wyoming is the “whitest” state in the union. It’s too cold in the winter to suit the “south americans” and the “southerners.” People there actually still want to work for a living, so sponging off the government is probably not cultural.

“I watched a judge from the city courts waddle out of her Mercedes in the Kroger lot, and buy her groceries with an EBT card.”

Surprisingly, the absolute biggest health risk for the American poverty stricken food stamp recipient is OBESITY.

Of course, smoking is much higher, as is alcoholism, amongst the destitute. You would think if you were poor, you would not be able to afford enough food to be obscenely fat or have the spare money to smoke or drink malt liquor and champale.

Dinesh D’Souza said his friend want to immigrate from India because he wanted to live “where the poor people are fat”.

I do not think the issue is with Portland.
I lived in Albany , Oregon for three years.
Rural western Oregon is full of white trash.
They do not bother to get educated, get a job,and meth is a big problem.
They would come into the clinic where I worked, and did not even bother to take a bath prior to being seen by a physician.
A doctor got so fed up with this ( which I think is a lack of respect to yourself and others around you), he kicked out a patient who stunk - and told him to take a bath before coming to his next rescheduled appointment.
The patient had the gall to complain to administration.
The doctor responded with- “I dont mind taking care of patients who smell because they put in a hard days work. But, if they stink, and are on welfare, I am kicking them out of my office.”
Another issue that bugged me- lice.
These people had louse ridden children who got sent home from school to be debugged. The parents of these children never did anything about the problem. The children were missing a lot of school because they could not pass inspection with the teachers. Normal parents would then come into the low lifes homes, delouse the children, and clean the house.
The normal parents worked, the lice ridden family were on welfare.
Oregon on the list does not surprise me in the least.

I was surprised to see Oregon as I had thought it was made up of many who had the frontier self-reliant ethic

Oregon...
#2 in the nation in unchurched (behind Washington state)
#1 in the nation in declaired atheists/agnostics (over 14%)
Portland #1 in the nation in per-capita strip clubs

In places like Portland, no "safety net" other than govt. when people aren't tied into a church or a significant sense of community.

They say "sense of community" is the key even in many urban areas where things aren't going right.

Just give me the list. I don’t need to click a 1000 times to get all the info.

No, not too much coffee. I cannot stand articles that make you load 10 or more pages to read the darn thing. I refuse to do it.

Right on. I live on the Oregon Coast, and I see it every day. There are "communities" just inland that look like the movie "Deliverance". Additionally, if you go further inland (Salem, Woodburn) there has been a huge influx of hispanics who are NOT assimilating, and who are very militant about their "rights".

Now let's look at some contrasts based upon what Forbes said in their recent Forbes: The Best Cities for Jobs

* Mississippi #1 food stamps...and Forbes says Pascagoula, MS is the #7 smaller city in the country for jobs!
* Tennessee is #3...and Forbes says that the Nashville-Murfreesboro-Davidson-Franklin, TN metro area is the #8 best large city area for jobs! And that Knoxville, TN is the #9 best mid-sized city for jobs! And not very far west of Memphis -- assuming that Memphis is contributing mighty heavily to TN's state ranking -- is the Little Rock-No. Little Rock-Conway, AR area, which Forbes ranks as the #6 best place for jobs among mid-sized cities [Forbes ranks this area 15th overall]
* New Mexico is #4...And Forbes says El Paso, TX (just south and just east of the N.M. border) is the #1 mid-size city in the country for jobs!
* Louisiana is #5...and Forbes says New Orleans-Metairie-Kenner is the #2 large metro area in the country for jobs! [And Shreveport-Bossier City, LA is #7 mid-sized city in the country for jobs!...tho I'm sure a fair # here are gambling-related.] And Forbes adds that not all that far away from those in SW LA is the third best place for jobs in the country -- Southeast Texas -- in the area from Bryan heading southeastern to Houston
* South Carolina is #10...and Forbes says that the Charleston-No. Charleston-Summerville, SC metro area is the #8 place among mid-sized cities for jobs!

I call them the blue tarp people.
They always seem to have blue tarps over their moldy roofs and sheds.
You know you are in Deliverance territory when the blue tarps are in full display.

It does not matter if there are jobs, these people will not work.
The only way they will work is stopping the welfare entitlements that we are paying for.

I don’t know about that. We live in a small Connecticut town (a Republican on if you can believe that), and there this guy who has his yard full of junk, lawn mowers, a trailer, and so one. Has a broken down fence around the property with a few hand painted “Keep Out” signs.

Over his front porch is a sagging tarp instead of an awning held up by two metal poles.

I’ve really surprised that the zoning people haven’t come after him because the rest of the homes in the neighborhood as well kept middle class homes. I sure wouldn’t want him living next door to me.

You included Charleston,SC which is now defunct as a place to seek employment because the Obama labor fascists have screwed the 10th Amendment and screwed our state out of the Boeing Plant.
But forget Boeing on it's own,it, like letting Texas burning with no FEMA aid is pure extortion designed for payback and to frighten all other states to not follow Texas and to vote Democrat.
We now have 21st Century presidential abuse of power on steroids.
RUNSARAHIMPEACHOBAMARUNSARAHIMPEACHOBAMA!!!

It's strange, but the pictures don't match the article.

Instead of showing the po' recipients, the pictures that show a human being show a person who is paying for the food stamps (someone with a job.)

To: utherdoul

well it is most definitely a race thing in that blacks and indians have a very very high food stamp use incidence
As for white trash....it’s fallen off a cliff in Nashville and will be completely fatherless mulattos with extremely fat moms in a few more years

Tough news for white trash men who better clean up and marry up

In the south the problem is in just one community

But given how many whites up north behave like in Madison or Portland....i can see why Yankees here often miss the race angle
Many northerners are surrounded by some sorry assed whites and have little black experience

Come down south and they learn

I go up north and I see some very bad examples of whites behaving..like Unions and other loonies
