“It’s a great day to be an American,” Toby Keith declared Monday while touring the Middle East.

After the death of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden, the Oklahoma country music superstar became a trending topic Monday on the popular microblogging site Twitter.

The Norman resident is visiting U.S. troops stationed in the Middle East on his ninth United Service Organization/Armed Forces Entertainment tour. He was without cellphone service for a time after President Barack Obama’s announcement Sunday that bin Laden, the mastermind behind the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, had been killed in a firefight with Navy SEALs in Pakistan.
