It sounds like there is a developing liberal view that we should not have gone after Bin Laden.

And I’ve heard some liberals were shocked, just shocked, at the public jubilation at the news of Bin Laden’s death. The liberals wanted us to pause in quiet reflection, not celebrate.

What would today’s liberals have thought about the public jubilation on VE Day and VJ Day???? Sheesh.......

I wonder how it would turn out if there were to be a Nuremberg type trial for OBL.

What would today’s liberals have thought about the public jubilation on VE Day and VJ Day?

Although September 2 is the designated V-J Day in the entire United States, the event is recognized as an official holiday only in the U.S. state of Rhode Island, where the holiday's official name is "Victory Day", and it is observed on the second Monday of August.

There have been several attempts in the 1980s and 1990s to eliminate or rename the holiday on the grounds that it is discriminatory.

While those all failed, the state legislature did pass a resolution in 1990 "stating that Victory Day is not a day to express satisfaction in the destruction and death caused by nuclear bombs at Hiroshima and Nagasaki."

Nuff said?

No they are developing the liberal view playing off of the Truther BS that they have kept going for 10 years.

Zippo didn't want to kill OBL, he could have bombed and done that. He wanted him taken alive to get him to talk.

Bush and Chaney wanted OBL killed so he couldn't tell how Bush was behind 911.

Don't believe me, watch.

The left wing fever swamps will be full of this in no time.

It sounds like there is a developing liberal view that we should not have gone after Bin Laden.

But for ten years they were claiming that the US should have been searching for Bin Laden instead of waging war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Reminds me of how for decades the liberal world view was that the US was an imperialist aggressor that kept the poor people down, while the Democratic Peoples' Republic of Germany was a workers' paradise with freedom and human rights for everyone, yet ever since the Berlin Wall fell they tried to take credit for it and claimed to be in solidarity with the enemies of the hated Socialist regime that they previously celebrated.

Being a liberal requires such severe mental gymnastics and such an impenetrable ability to compartmentalize in order to keep reality from intruding that you can simultaneously and fervently believe two things that any normal person can see are mutually exclusive. If they possessed any critical thinking skills whatsoever, their heads would explode. Luckily for us and for them, there's nothing to worry about.

I've heard this same argument other places and I have to disagree. I don't think the jubilation on VE Day or VJ Day was about dead Japanese, Germans or whoever. It was a celebration of the end of a horrible war and the fact that all those men would be coming home. World War II had a profound effect on the every day life of Americans at home.
