If you strap a couple of turbofans to the fuselage, you can stop the main rotor in mid flight. See the Sikorsky S-72 X-wing.
Had to look that one up. It looks like something out of a Japanese comic book. And all I can say is I want one!

Years ago if you drove by the Sikorsky plant you could see that thing X-wing thing sitting on the tarmac. All wrapped up in a cocoon of plastic. May still be there.
