With military training base approx. a mile away they probably they were trying to avoid “waking up the natives”.

After reading through some of those real-time twitter posts that were occurring during the raid, it's pretty clear that everybody knew what was going on. Obviously the helicopters weren't stealthy from a sound point of view, given that people were twitter posting in real time about them, so I'm going with the theory that the Pakistani military realized what was going on and wisely decided to imitate Baghdad Bob and pretend like Americans weren't running around the area until the raid was over.
