Actually, the fact that they removed his clothes and washed the body means we were saying he was no martyr. He got the same treatment under islamic law that a guy who had a heart attack while running his flower shop would get. Martyrs are buried in the clothes they died in.
That said, I prefer the bacon treatment. Any Muslims who freaked out because we put pig fat on a guy who murdered 3,000+ innocent people (don’t forget USS Cole, Tanzania, etc.) is the type of Muslim who likes terrorism anyway.
Their retort (as were the anti-American professors) is that “those who died on 9-11 weren’t really “innocent”.
Atta had a list of dos and don’ts for handing his remains and I doubt we cared to follow his wishes (no woman handling the body, etc.).
