“Nothing would make me happier than to bring jobs back (unless it would make the unions too uppity again which was part, but not all, of the problem). I fear it would be an uphill battle because he needs to address the root causes of why they left in the first place which are multiple. Then fight with environmental people. Then reverse trade agreements. He would need a great deal of help from Congress. So AFAIC it’s just talk at this point.”

Cool - you’re seeing through him also. The part about having to give large sums of money to Democrats because he lived in New York seems a bit non-credible.

“I wonder how he gets along with Sam Walton or how that would play with him. I’m still bitter about what Wal Mart did, promising when they opened they advertised they would only stock “made with pride in America.”, shortly became, if available, then you know the rest.”

I don’t hold a grudge against Walmart. They cater to the lower to middle classes and provide good stuff at great prices. The really had no choice regarding China...there simply wasn’t anything available in the US anymore at anywhere near the cost of Chinese stuff. They would have had to essentially re-start their business into something that no one has ever tried, which is to stick to the (few) things that Americans still produce. I just couldn’t see it working.

I have become convinced he is a Soros-paid plant intended to mount a Ross Perot-like challenge, and siphon of many percentage points so that Obama can squeak through again.

Frankly there's nothing about him I could ever relate to on a personal level, and I would shun that ostentatiousness. His daughter and son impress me more than he does.

You could be right about Walmart, never thought about it that way. They do fill a need for people I shouldn't hold grudges anyway. I had a couple problems with their store that affected me personally in a negative way that were in no way my fault. In addition, my car is so old their warranty followed to a third battery. That one was a dud. So rather than fight with them, I went to another repair shop and asked for the best battery they had for my car with cold weather cranking power. Seems I got a good one, paid more for it but well worth it.

I've shopped there since, but their locations are way too inconvenient. I have a hard time finding stuff, especially in the grocery part, but that's not Walmart, like I am with any store I'm not familiar with.

They have great baked goods and breads. Clothes I haven't had to buy any for ages.
