Specifically, fields 2, 6c and 8, because I don’t know of any typewriters back then which would allow you type with half character spacing.

My late grandfather's manual typewriter has a half-space key, and many that didn't would allow half-spacing by pressing and holding the spacebar while one hit another key.

Your late grandfather had a typewriter made after 1960.

So, why would the typist spend all that extra time holding down the spacebar, typing the “M”, holding down the spacebar, typing the “a”, holding down the spacebar, typing the “l”, holding down the spacebar and typing the “e”?

Especially considering how sloppy and inconsistent the rest of the birth certificate was in comparison to the two others that she would have typed for the twins.
