My BC looks similar- except that Hawaii was a Territory at the time, and not a state.

My husband was born at Tripler in 1953, and his LF COLB is very similar to the Nordyke ones with white writing on a black background.

I did find something else in his important papers file - an actual microfiche "Birth Certificate." It's about 4" x 5" and just states where he was born, to whom, and the date and time of birth. It then states: "In Witness Whereof the said Hospital has caused this certificate to be signed by its duly authorized officer and its Official Seal to be hereunto affixed." It is then signed by the attending physician and the base commander.

So I guess they did give out something called a "birth certificate," at least at *that* time. Did you get one of those, Kaila?
