My son and I sat near the front in that very section one Christmas Eve. The view of the altar and rectors was excellent.
It's appealing to observe people who are born and bred to lead, who revel in centuries of history, I think.
Whereas presidents spring out of nowhere---land surveyors, haberdashers, actors, community organizers----Washington, Truman, Reagan and Obama.
There are good and bad kings just as there are good and bad presidents.
Not so bad being a superpower w/ presidents----and now the sun finally sets on the shrinking British empire.
Isnt that sweet..bless you.

Thank you for your blessing.
Like the collage. I have grown sweet williams & they do have a wonderfully SWEET fragrance! and hold up fairly well in a cut bouquet
And the sun is setting on US if KING ZERO of KENYA doesn't be overthrown in 2012.
...And the atheists of the ww communist movement. My thoughts as well.
We are judging the CHARADE of a white dress, a huge church wedding that makes a mockery of the sanctity of marriage of two people who violated the sanctity of waiting till you are married to shack up.
Shacking up for 8 years in public , flaunting that and essentially saying..Hey, the whole no sex before marriage, sex within marriage, the virtues of chastity and fidelity..hey, no big deal. It doesnt really mean anything! Just screw around with whoever, live with whoever. then have a big fancy TV media wedding and its all ok
THAT is what we are judging. and the whole charade that the church of England, the monarchy plays right along with this!
Hey, if they are in love, great. If they want to get married in the church, great. But to act like free-love, free sex, screw whoever for eight years in public and THEN make a big deal out of it...Im not buying that.
Be quiet, monster. Go back to your pit, and look for the lost shame that should have silenced your scathing tongue.
The blistering scorn and hatred you express is a far, far greater sin than the subject you claim to be addressing.
Your type of hypocritical savagery has turned millions of people away from God, under the false impression that such condemning, sneering blackness represents the teachings of Christ.
"Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend's eye." - Matthew 7:5
Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. - Matthew 22:36-39
Jesus said, a new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. - John 13:31-35
Ohhhhh...I am so feeling the love of Christ from your post.
How compassionate of you to the “monstor from the pit.”
Lord Anton Gustavus from Dalrymple! (Heck, that would just about really work!)
I was so struck by the second solemn question (after "speak now or forever hold your peace") that if either of them knew in their own hearts any impediment to their marriage, they should confess it now. Could not help but hope that Charles was sweating and Camilla squirming.

I believe those three ‘unidentified” girls are Spencer side of the family. Maybe the Earl of Spencer’s daughers so Williams first cousins.
I’ll give you another point of view. I lived with my husband before we were married. We were young, and for lots of reasons I justified that it was okay. I was a Christian, but obviously an immature one. There were some financial reasons for moving in together, and we didn’t want to elope because I wanted a wedding. We knew we wanted to be married when we had kids.
Anyway, we’ve been married almost 20 years. Since then I’ve really matured in my faith, and I understand the sanctity of marriage.
Since then, I’ve really had to rely on my faith to get me through some very hard times. I really started to mature after the birth of our twins. They both almost died and one of them has a brain injury. My faith has sustained me. I really trust the Lord a lot more these days.
The service today was beautiful. They read from the Bible. They sang Christian hymns. You don’t see that on TV today much. I really pray that William and Kate have faith (even if it is a bit misguided right now) and that it will grow.
I don’t know what is in their hearts, but I can pray that God will grow faith in their hearts.
I’ve been out of the loop for awhile. Have you heard from Snugs?
Wonderful post. Faith is a journey.
The history is what really gets to me. All the generatins of people who have walked those street. Blows my mind.

My dad wasn’t going to watch...1776 and all. Well he got hooked. Loved the history, the music, etc.
