I recall hearing Caucasian used on the old Adam 12 tv show back in the 1970s. I remember it sounding odd to my teen ears at the time and it took a while for me to understand it meant white person. The show ran from 1968 through 1975, and helped introduce police procedures and jargon to the general public according to wiki.
I’m not sure about Caucasian, but I’m pretty sure about “African”. No question about that.
