Why is the O in Oahu floating like a balloon above the line, but not in OBAMA?I'm not making any judgments about the veracity of this document, but the vertical shifting of upper-case letters is entirely typical of typewritten documents.
On most typewriters, each upper- and lower-case letter is on the same stem. To type an upper-case letter, the entire mechanism shifts up. If the typist presses the key before the mechanism has fully moved, you get an upper-case letter that is vertically shifted.
All the O’s look raised to me - both upper and lowercase. Except for the O’s in Obama, of course.
