The most recent New York Times/CBS News poll finds that the current crop of Republican presidential hopefuls is suffering from an identity crisis.
This was a national poll and was conducted with a total pool of 1,116 registered voters and 525 registered Republicans. The poll finds that 90% of GOP voters did not know enough the candidates.
For instance, they could not offer opinions on former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour, former Utah governor and U.S. ambassador to China Jon Huntsman.
57 percent of Republicans participating could not name a possible challenger to Obama that would make them enthusiastic and motivated to work for the candidate.
When asked which potential Republican candidate for president they like best, only 9 percent selected former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney while former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee received a mere 8 percent.
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was viewed the least favorable. Among Republicans polled however, 50 percent view her favorably compared with 26 percent who view her unfavorably.
No one has captured the imagination or enthusiasm of the GOP. The fact is that there is no Tea Party. There is no nationwide organization and no Tea Party candidates.
A lack of leadership has led to people like Donald Trump to make the Republican Party look like a sideshow. Donald Trump is not serious candidate for president of the United States. He is a media master and public relations machine.
The Republican Party has allowed itself to get bogged down on non-issues like Obama's birth certificate and Republican lawmakers who seem to have more of an affinity for the non-Party Tea Party than the Party to which they were elected.
The longer fringe and divisive "Republican" candidates are out there defining the party the more likely that Obama will get re-elected.

Every vote for the Libertarian Party is a vote for B.O.
We're always seeing these "concerned" editorials about the Republican Party and they always come from the viewpoint that being just like the Democrats is what the Republicans should do.
If Democrats had the answers, their "one-party" states would be utopias.
Just tell folks what cards you hold and the game is done.
Smart people are not very smart.
That means TEAParty folks, members of state legislatures, Republican Governors, Republican Representatives ~ especially those who are newly elected.
I'm not sure we need to let the Senators near him.
There's no reason why Donald Trunk needs to stumble through a single term without close Republican friends. Fur Shur the Democrats will whore for his attention. It's not enough to stop them ~ we must bring him in and talk to him Republican stalwart to Republican stalwart.
Good somebody needs to hijack it to save it from the RINO’s.
We can expand capacity and there'll be more than enough for them and us. Anyone doesn't like it we can handle that ~ mostly through credit squeezes ~ just shut their money off until they squeal.
No violence need ensue.
Trump is telling us that China can no longer be treated like a dirtbag third-world country. It's time to stand up and deal with them like they can pay their own bills. He's also telling us that Iraq can be treated like a third-world country with a worthwhile resource or two.
Well I’m beginning to think nobody wants to take the hit of this nations demise that’s coming.....this is all now on Obamas watch and whoever wins this next Presidency will have more than a mess to clean up...more than likely the nation will fall the rest of the way and it’ll be under their watch. No doubt the candidates know this all too well....might be why nobodys been fired up....they’ll run but do they really want to win? I do wonder.......
exactly what needs to happen.
Libertarians would gut the NEA, and ensure that parents were not forced to send their children to schools which would try to brainwash them into thinking dangerous behaviors are "normal". They would also oppose any taxpayer funding for abortion. Social conservatives seek more than that, but I'd still regard the Libertarians as being more socially conservative than the status quo.
Makes sense--only if you hate this country and the people that operate it at the ground level.

Where’s the barf alert for this article? (Thanks for posting it.)
Trump has them all with puddin’ in their panties...
Good.
CERTAIN ELEMENTS of the Libertarian are worthless chaff...
In fact, I would say a greater part of them are downright destructive and deceptive...
“No violence need ensue.”
Don’t get me wrong, I like the idea - theoretically.
The problem is that I believe the “America attacked Iraq for oil” propaganda would spew forth, and our terrorist problem would increase tenfold.
Once all the necessary RIBOs are thrown under the GOP bus, it WILL be necessary to jack it up and clear the mess to be able to get any traction. Might even have to jack it up higher for a while to get it to run right.
No one in the world cares if it was about oil ~ and if it was, in fact, about oil, or not about oil, it's ours for the taking.
Just enough to pay us back, and carrying costs.
BTW, what was this war on Libya about? Sand? Camels? Shooting up the population like they're doing in Syria? What?
Remember, in this world hundreds of millions of people have all their savings in dollars or dollar denominated securities and assets. We keep the value of the dollar up, they're happy. We let the dollar drop, they are ruined.
I do have another — candidate... THE GHOST of RONALD REAGAN!!
