Since you seem like a walking encylopedia on Huckabee, I would like an anwser to a comment that a freeper made about Huckabee not really having been a minister. Since this is the end-all-and-be-all to the Huckster’s supporters, could you tell us what you know about his so-called ministry. Did he go to seminary? How long did he serve as a minister, if at all.
Sorry, if this is covered in your links, but I just didn’t want to go through that long, long list. Thanks.
Sorry for the delay in responding.
Huck went to college at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, AR at the same time as my wife, in the early-mid 70's, where I think he got a BS degree in Religion. He may have attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Texas for a while but I'm not sure. Yes, Huck was a Baptist minister for a number of years before He decided politics (and the related fame, power, prestige, and wealth) was a greater calling than his calling from God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost and to pastor the members of one of God's churches.
Huck pastored Immanuel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, AR from 1980-1986. My wife's family were members and attended Beech Street First Baptist Church in Texarkana, Ark. where the Huck pastored from 1986 to 1992. From 1989-1991 he was also the president of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention. In 1992 he became lieutenant governor of Arkansas, and in 1996 he became governor.
