I personally think Seniors should share in the misery. They are a big reason we are in the mess we are in. I wasn’t of voting age when the Social Security turned into a ponzi scheme and the funds were thrown into the general fund. The Seniors who are crying that they live on SS are the ones who chose to put their retirment in the hands of government and didn’t save for themselves. They can move in with family if they can’t afford to live on their own. Or they can eat dog food. Just kidding about the dog food.

Or they can eat dog food. Just kidding about the dog food.Indeed. That stuff is expensive, and in most states, subject to sales tax.

'who chose to put their retirment in the hands of government and didnt save for themselves.'
I was not aware of a 'choice'. (I get more from my 401K than I do from SS.)

Seniors live very well compared with the seniors of the early 20th Century ago. The Greatest Generation, the one that fought in the War, also profited greatly from that war, being larger than the generation that followed, and the one before, and enjoying both the huge increase in national income and the massive increase governmental largesse. The Boomer generation profited even more, because they will inherit from the "Greatest" and enjoy the generous welfare state benefits. The trailing half of that generation would be affected by Ryan's proposed reforms. What THEY would like is a tax bump that would guarantee THEM what the leading half would enjoy. IAW, apres moi, l'deluge.
