Retirees don’t care about the current rate of unemployment.

He was supported by the great majority during his listening session in North Prairie, WI on Monday.

This was probably a concerted effort by union activists. There was a guy with a Flip video camera shooting the whole session in North Prairie.

HMMM...the timing of the question ON Stinkprogress is suspect. When did seniors care about tax rates when they are receiving their retirements? Looks like it was planned from the get go..

And why do these people think they are entitled to other peoples work?

I guess that kind of explains why their children think and vote the way they do...

They are simply owed...

F’em...

These worthless people can go screw themselves. I personally couldn't care less if they lost their benefits because we could no longer borrow money to pay them.

Now they will know what all of us in Generation X and beyond will have to contend with. Hope they like it!

Senior citizens are still amongst the richest group of people in this country, and that is before you factor in things like Social Security benefits and other private retirement savings. For those of us in Generation X and beyond, we have so much of our paycheck sucked away in taxes that we simply cannot afford to have enough kids to work to pay for benefits for these ingrates. And a work-free retirement? Hah! Another pipe dream.

“Tax the rich more” apparently is the latest Rat talking point faxed out to the unions and special interest groups like AARP. I’ve noticed this line of thought in very recent letters to the editor and at a local Rat protest over the weekend.

Companies leaving the US or moving their headquarters. The wealthy will do the same. Costa Rica is booming. Not much reason to stay in the US once Obama destroys the healthcare system.

The major flaw of democracy is that once the people discover they can vote themselves tribute, the majority will until it leads to the demise of democracy.Europe has been doing it for decades and Obama is playing catchup. It is a shame the majority of people complain about the debt and yet when push comes to shove they will surrender no tribute.Instead, they will look to the people in the tax brackets above them to surrender their benefits through means testing and pay for the benefits of the majority by increased taxation.

If you have NOT the right to the fruits of your own labor, then the government can have no right to take it from you to give to others, because all government authority derives exclusively from the rights of its citizens, who cannot grant the power to own or acquire property unless they have such rights themselves. And if the one who earned it has not the right to it, then those to whom the government would give it have no such rights either.

I guess generating more revenue from economic growth is out of the question.

Thanks for the posts on this SandF.

I take no pleasure in being right about this (politically.) This is a very important issue to me and it is painful seeing Republicans flounder on it.

Rising star Paul Ryan seems to have had a rough outing when talking to seniors in Milton Wisconsin today.

The seniors sound like Trump chumps.

A "Love Note" Sent To Jim Robinson

“I do so enjoy these money raising pleas. Too bad you kicked off so many patriots back in the day that criticizing the big spending Bush was a cardinal sin on the so called conservative free republic.

Nope, I will happily continue to freeload information from this site. If the lights go dark, well, so be it...”

Folks, when you are confronted with this type of trap question, turn the argument against the person posing the question.

Ask one or both of the following:

1) So what is the right percentage that the rich should pay? 25%? 30% 50? Get the person asking the question to state a specific percentage. Whatever their answer is, compare that to 35% ... Yes, one dollar out of every three made goes to the government.

2) So the top 5% of income earners ... what percentage of the tax burden should they have to pay? What is their fair share of the total tax bill 20%, 30%, 40%? The “rich” already pay for 57% of the federal tax burden

Sounds like Ryan was set up by the unions. Inflation will destroy these old geezers living on fixed incomes and social security. They'll all be living in their kid's and grandkid’s basements once inflation picks up in 2012...
