The presidential nomination should be bestowed upon a Republican and Trump is a Johnny-come-lately "Republican" of convenience.

Yep. I can sure do without that. Keepin' my powder dry with this guy.

Trump lavished money on every known liberal——Clinton, Rangel, Kerry, Reid, Lautenberg, Schumer......and other Dems,

And he gave $50,000 to Rahm Emanuel’s Chicago mayoral race.

So I guess these are the people who will be backing his presidential run.

There is no reason to trust Trump, but there is no reason to stop him from giving Obama hell either.

If he wants to do it, he can go for it.

If Trump got on the ticket, any ticket, doesn’t matter, he’d have STANDING.

We need to be very careful about this Trump deal because he’s not working for us. He’s working for Soros.

Trump isn't working for anyone much less that commie Soros. Trump won't make money following that freak and knows better than to get involved with someone who can bankrupt him on a whim. No, he's like money. He likes the camera. He's having too much fun on his own. He's about two things - money and publicity. Not necessarily in that order. Whatever he's up to, I'm along for the ride as along as it's going my direction. Anything to bring out that BC and NBC to get that empty suit outta my House.

As The Donald has said, he is is a smart man. You atually think he is going to advocate choice, gun-control and
nationalized health care and have a serious chance of being nominated?

Trump’s contribs may have been intended to drum up support for his future candidacy, but A) there’s no way in hell any of those names would support him and B) pulllease. :’)

And it's no excuse for Trump defenders to justify this as "just doing business in New York" (or elsewhere).

It's SOP in DC to donate to people that you might need access to in order to protect your business interests. I am an admirer of Levin but he is wrong about this.

Yes, I'm aware that it's a common practice, and in state capitals and city halls as well. The major reason why is because government is so darn huge that it can pick winners and losers in what was once called the private sector, and leftists especially delight in doing so.

Nonetheless, not everyone who has business interests is corruptible, and a guy who wants to be a President should be able to have solid principles and put them into practice. And when you reach the kind of wealth Trump has, it's easier to do the right thing.

Sorry, in my book, contributing to 'Rat politicians (other than in very extraordinary circumstances) is an absolute no-no for a Republican presidential wannabe.

Anything to built in Las Vegas has to be “blessed” by Harry Reid. You “grease” the guy who is going to WIN the election, not the guy you want to win.

I would prefer if Trump took the Michael Corleone approach:

"Senator? You can have my answer now, if you like. My final offer is this: nothing. Not even the fee for the gaming license, which I would appreciate if you would put up personally. "
