Trump: I wanted Bush impeached

(CNN) – Business mogul Donald Trump told CNN Wednesday House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should have sought to impeach President Bush when she had the chance.

In an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, Trump said the president and his administration deliberately lied about the Iraq war, and congressional Democrats missed an opportunity to impeach him when the party took control of Congress in 2006.

"I was surprised that she didn't do more in terms of Bush and going after Bush," Trump said. "It was almost - it just seemed like she was going to really look to impeach Bush and get him out of office, which personally I think would have been a wonderful thing."

Pressed why he feels Bush deserved the punishment faced by only two other commanders-in-chief, Trump said the president misled the country in the run-up to the Iraq war, and that his actions were considerably more objectionable than those which led to the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton.

"He lied. He got us into the war with lies," Trump said. And I mean - look at the trouble Bill Clinton got into with something that was totally unimportant. And they tried to impeach him, which was nonsense. And yet Bush got us into this horrible war with lies, by lying, by saying they had weapons of mass destruction, by saying all sorts of things that turned out not to be true."

I guess if The Donald attacks GWB then it's OK. I swear if The Donald attacked Sarah Palin some here would excuse it away.

I guess you would have impeached Reagan over the same issue?

“WTF are you babbling about?”

I believe that the reference is to the North American Union that GW set up in secret and without congressional oversight. Had Tom Tancredo not blown the whistle, the deal would have been done with I35 being the main corridor to Canada from Mexico, and no customs stops.

As it is, this was all handed to Obama along with the executive orders( crafted by Dick Cheney)giving unprecedented powers to the presidency in the event of martial law being declared.

Then again he might have been referring to the negotiations with Canada to allow their troops on our soil in the event of civil unrest. Once again handed over to Obama.

I might be wrong though.

I appreciate that many here like the fact Trump is beating up on Obama and willing to take him on moreso than leaders in the GOP are. But I can't get past some of his prior statements/positions and I don't believe deep down he's a fiscal/social conservative. I think right now he's whatever he needs to be to get the most attention and rise to the top of the polls.

Hmm...I think Alito and Roberts are a pretty big deal. And how do you think the WOT would have been fought with Al Gore or John Kerry in the White House?

Is SOROS involved?

Remember the article back in November in the Huffington Post — Soros had said he had given up on Obama and was looking elsewhere. A lot of the speculation was Trump. (related story from source I can link to)

MY POST:
The “Co-Opt the Tea Party Movement” being put into practice by Trump?

Sounds quite plausible to me!
Trent Lott [R] on Tea Party candidates: ‘As soon as they get here, we need to co-opt them’

The money quote from a Washington Post piece on the Tea Party and Washington’s GOP establishment:

Former Senate majority leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.), now a D.C. lobbyist, warned that a robust bloc of rabble-rousers spells further Senate dysfunction. “We don’t need a lot of Jim DeMint disciples,” Lott said in an interview. “As soon as they get here, we need to co-opt them.” But Lott said he’s not expecting a tea-party sweep. “I still have faith in the visceral judgment of the American people,” he said.

He has no shot to win the nomination. Sorry. His views are too far out there (take over countries for oil, default on China loans). When the bluster wears off and he has to get specific, he will fade.

That's what makes Trump so dangerous. He will fade but then he will be back as a third party spoiler.

He is narcissistic enough and rich enough to pull off another "Ross Perot", split the anti-Obama vote and put Obama in the White House with less than 50% of the total vote.

Have to agree that there were grounds to impeach GW on the war in Iraq. I do not agree that GW lied however.

It is simply unarguable that Bush did not know the situation in Saddam's Iraq. He thought he did. Others thought he did. Many held to his opinion. All were wrong. President Bush took this country into a shooting war, an invasion no less, for a premise that was not true.

Now I do NOT contend that Bush's mistakes were intentional acts. I DO contend that the war in Iraq was the result of very poor decision making. As such, Bush did not deserve impeachment for lying rather he deserved impeachment for doing his job poorly. Criminal negligence comes to mind.

George Bush did not know what he did not know. That is a disastrous failing in a military commander tantamount to being surprised in the face of the enemy which was also committed by Bush when he declared victory without consulting his opponent. Winners don't claim victory until the losers declare defeat.

IMHO Bush invited impeachment when CIA Director George Tenet ("it's a slam dunk") was not fired and brought up on charges of negligence. Tenet guaranteed that which he could not guarantee, that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction on hand. That President later awarded Tenet the Medal of Freedom simply makes the negligence all that much worse.

Being President of the most powerful country on earth and having the power to direct it's military is an awesome responsibility. Screwing up on the job should invite no less a repercussion.

Reagan had so many rights, one wrong was tolerable. However, I am very sad that he did not accomplish one of his most important campaign promises, to close the Department of Education. That was a BIGGIE, and has hurt the countryBIG TIME!

Bush should have been impeached ... for his failure to protect the states from invasion.

The next Prez won't do anything about the border just as the rest. Maybe Trump but I have doubts.

Yes, it wouldn’t be surprising if Trump is working for, or with, Soros. It’s certainly very suspicious how the left wing media has been cooperating with Trump, at the same time they attack him as a crazy birther. Why are they giving him so much air time and free publicity?

I concur, then criminally prosecuted for aiding and abetting a violent invasion of our country.

Has Obama had congress vote on Libya yet?

I cant believe people on FR are attacking GWB while ignoring Obamas lawless ass.

Ditto that, and has Donald called for Obama's impeachment for not getting congressional approval for Libya? Does make you think what really is his motive.
