"He said, 'Could you get off your bike please?' " she told The Post.
"I said, 'Why?' He said, 'You're not allowed to carry a purse on your handlebars.' I thought he was joking."
Lecomte du Nouy, who had been riding down Columbus Avenue at West 100th Street on Monday at 3 p.m. en route to pick up her 4-year-old daughter at nursery school, said she nearly lost her balance when the cop asked for her driver's license.
"He gets out his little notepad and starts writing things down," she said. "Then I realized he's writing a ticket. I still thought it was a joke."
When she protested, she said the officer comforted her by adding, "Don't worry, you can go to court. The judges always throw these out."

“I just paid the damn thing. $125.”
I also got a red light traffic ticket and the photo looks like the light turned red when I was already more than half way through the yellow! I also paid it, but at least here on Long Island it was only $50!
“What if you wanted to change it yourself? Would you get arrested for practicing vehicle maintenance without a license?”
LOL... may be some day that will be true. But what would have happened if I fixed it myself was that I would have to go to a police man, any police officer, and ask him to check the light and sign the paper. This would have to be done within 24 hours of the ticket issuance. Once it was done, I had to bring it to the traffic court to have the ticket dismissed.
Chuck Schumer!!!
Now that is awesome!!! A bucket list is a list of things one wishes to do before dying...
Having ridden a bike for five years in New York, Lecomte du Nouy said she couldn't understand how the city -- which is supposedly trying to encourage cycling -- would hit bike riders with frivolous tickets.
I wonder who she felt/feels about frivolous tickets for car drivers.
You boys are slipping!
Slipping at mentioning irrelevant points? OK.
I believe they call that self-parody.
But that is usually done in a effort to be funny.
I have lived in Texas all my life and I deserved every ticket I've ever gotten. Don't break the laws and the cops won't bother you.
I was pulled over and threatened with jail unless I gave the cop cash near Fort Worth. Yes. Cash.
Yes little Polly Anna, the cops will bother you for no reason (or little reason).
