If Trump runs it will be as an independent in an attempt to dilute the vote of the right(Think Ross Perot).

Unlikely, but possible. I do think that a part of American finds Trump’s “shoot from the hip” style refreshing. I know I do. But I don’t know if he’ll be taken seriously enough, which is a shame - the guy is a two-time billionaire.

If Trump were the Republican nominee, yes, he could beat Obama.
Why? Because Obama won with all the blacks, Jews, liberals, lifelong Dems, and independents. He has lost all the independents, at least 20% of the lifelong Dems (the ones who lost their jobs or 401Ks), and half the Jews. Most of these people respect a man who wants America to be Great again, rather than someone who is evidently doing all he can to make America sink.
Also, Trump could take the states that have gone redder in 2010.
