Word. No Mitt. No Huck. If either is the candidate, a vote for Trump will at least do better than the write-in I’d otherwise have to use.

And that is the key. Right now - today - this would result in Republican defeat. But we do not know who the Republican nominee will be, and perhaps the Republicans in Congress will suddenly become both principled and resolute.
If his candidacy is a mere stunt, it will only work against a weak, business as usual, statist-lite GOP. That is what they are most of the time, but not always. Just almost always.
