I’d much rather see something like the French (inquisitorial) system in which all parties involved in the process have the common goal and incentive of determining facts in legal cases. France manages to punish criminals without district attorneys; an added benefit is not having Mike Nifongs, Scott Harshbargers, Janet Renos, and their ilk building political careers on the blood of innocents.
