After reading Donald Trump's logic about why he thinks Barack Obama's presidency may be "the greatest scam in the country's history," we spent much of yesterday getting up to speed on the issue.
Until yesterday, we actually hadn't looked at the birther question in detail, because we assumed it was just ludicrous conspiracy theory cooked up by folks who are desperate to do anything to have Barack Obama un-elected.

do we really KNOW that Sarah Palin was born in this country? Or Donald Trump? Or Mitt Romney?
A few weeks ago, Donald Trump made a big show of getting his birth certificate to prove that he, unlike Barack Obama, was born here.
Well, how do we KNOW this whole thing--the WHOLE TRUMP CANDIDACY THING--wasn't just trumped up as a way for Trump to cleverly reinforce his fake citizenship?
We don't KNOW that, do we?
And how do we know that Sarah Palin was really born here? How do we know that Sarah Palin is really Sarah Palin and not just another woman by that name? How do we know, for example that Sarah Palin's real name isn't Aliya Naim?
Oh, sure, Sarah Palin can probably produce documents to "prove" that she's actually named Sarah Palin and was actually born here. But as Candidate Trump teaches us, how can we really be sure?
And how about Mitt Romney?
Mitt Romney certainly looks and sounds American, doesn't he? But how do we know that his accent and his all-American (white) good looks aren't all just an amazingly clever cover-up orchestrated by his parents half a century ago. As Trump points out, LOTS of people wanted to be American citizens in those days, including, perhaps, the Romneys. (Maybe they adopted him. Or stole him. Maybe their names were actually the "Husseins"!)

That is definitely untrue. Danae (Freeper) received her birth certificate from Hawaii and posted it here on Free Republic. She requested it after BO requested his - which shows it is available upon request.
There was another person that requested her husbands and sons (both born in Hawaii). Her Husbands was the black with white lettering style where as her sons was a white copy with black lettering.
Just look up the Nordyke twins - they were born either the same day or day after Obama and they have the long form that is black with white lettering.
You can still get them.
Why is it that Palin-supporters resort to name-calling so quickly?

Answer: It is self-evident!
A small army of witnesses would be thrilled to give witness that she is a natural born citizen. They visited her mom and her in the hospital. They attended the baby showers and a christening. They brought meals over to the family. They knew the origins of her parents and her grandparents. They watched Sarah grow to maturity. And....Sarah has left a trail of paper and friends, neighbors, and relatives.
Also....Sarah could have a certified copy of her official hospital generated long form birth certificate release tomorrow, along with her passport and other common documents.
Since Obama can do none of the above, and he does not have the high standard of having American citizens to testify for him, it is reasonable to expect a few key, but common,certified documents from him.
I have a question regarding the term — NATURAL BORN.
The framers did not define what it means in the constitution which tells me that they ASSUME that people knew what it meant back then.
Are there any documents ( legal or other authoritatively written one ) that tell us what the term NATURAL BORN meant as originally understood ?
This is a sticking point issue because many people confuse the term NATIVE BORN with NATURAL BORN.
What we need is a good, legal definition of these terms and an explanation of their differences.

No, they won’t. That’s the truth of it. In Washington state the Secretary of State, Mr. Reed, told me personally on live radio, that it is not his job to verify the status of candidates for President. That job belongs to the political parties, according to him.
I know that’s bizzare and crazy, but it’s that way in every state. At least it was in 2008. It’s just a loophole that Barry drove through.
And, apparently we Conservatives have not been able to advance a verfication law in ANY STATE. It’s mid-2011. Time is running out to pass these laws. It goes with
Wow..that is interesting. So a party called “not a naturalized citizen” could affirm their candidate is a natural born citizen and get him elected President.
Yes. In one of the many lawsuits around Obama eligibility, I believe that one that Alan Keyes brought in California, it was shown that a candidate of some 3rd party in the recent past was born in Nicaragua (some lefty Peace and Freedom party candidate). He may have even bragged about it in the voters pamphlet.
How do you spell BANANA ?
I think most states now issue the short form birth certificates similar to the certificate of live birth that all the conjecture is about. But if you want to get a passport or some other legal government document it usually requires the “real” or long form birth certificate, this is the one that is signed by the doctor and has the information about the parents etc. on it. I know this is true of Texas as I just recently got my son’s long form in order to get the address of where I was living at the time he was born. There is a lot of information on the long forms, not much on the short forms.
