Don't overestimate the people. In the present era, we can only advance our cause with independent support. However independents are not independent because they're wiser than the rest of us, nor is it because they reserve judgment until diligently analyzing the proposals of both sides. Independents didn't vote for 1.5 trillion dollars deficits in 2010. Independents did vote in overwhelming numbers for the Republicans and their promise to cut 100 billion.
The majority of people in this country were on our side to get 100 billion in cuts. Boehner should have held out for 100 billion.
