my impression of little darling Stanley is that she did more than "study".....she seemed to be kind of a tramp....
She fits the general profile of the type of women recruited by the CIA to serve in positions abroad ~ embedded in the local culture.
Even met her at the home of a fellow who wrote the definitive Indonisan/English dictionary. Everybody else was pretty rightwing ~ particularly the Dutch colonials.
Rather plain jane type though ~ if she was a "tramp" that'd be a surprise. One of her school mates, reported to have actually taken classes with her, was Ted Bundy.
No report that he found her interesting.
A lesson for you ~ some of us who have something to say about the woman actually met her and have in their possession some of her written work. Most of those who have something to say about her are the sort who never met her personally, have never read her book or professional reports, and imagine her to be a floozy with no evidence.
I think she loved her father and mother very much and brought up her father's "son".
